Synopsis:

It is spring, and somewhere in the "mother mountains," the Sierra Madres of central Mexico, the monarch butterflies are waking up. They stream down from the ancient oyamel forest canopies to drink from the mountain streams before beginning their journey north.

​

Elsewhere, in the Heartland of America, a little girl is playing in a field of nectar flowers and milkweed, awaiting the return of the butterflies.

 

This is the story of a Girl who dreams of flight and her Butterfly, who takes her on a magical journey of metamorphosis and migration, teaching her to cherish the delicate, fleeting nature of life in its constant cycle of birth, death and rebirth.
